The 1st African American woman poet, enslaved most of her life, wrote poetry inspiring America’s Revolutionary War victory, a new Columbia, and freedom for all. The aromas of grapefruit, mango, and a hint of cedar evokes the scents of Phillis Wheatley’s homeland of Gambia.
